It is designed to help students in JSS1-3 from different Secondary Schools improve their spelling capabilities. The competition promises to increase the range of their vocabulary, while boosting correct usage of the English Language by encouraging conscious efforts in learning words with a suitable improvement in other aspects of English Language and reading culture.
The #FCTBEE also promotes literacy alongside other key life skills for students such as financial literacy, design process, essay writing and much more. It creates a platform for students from diverse backgrounds including public and private schools to engage and compete fairly in order to emerge as winners of the competition.
This year’s edition is scheduled to hold on 23rd June 2018.
Besides winning the grand prize, students participating in the competition also stand a chance to win N10,000 just for their essay entries. The top ten entries will be published on their blog. The top 3 entries will proceed to a second round which is a 30-minutes speed writing session on the day of #FCTBEE2018. Entries will be reviewed by a panel and the winner will go home with N10,000 naira.
Speaking to one of the organisers, Amina Abdulmalik said about the upcoming competition,
